Renting Cars in MiamiWe rent lots of cars in USA and the location we rent most cars from is Miami Airport. As Miami is a very busy airport, bearing in mind the weather is likely to be hot and possibly raining, it is worth knowing the procedure there. All on-airport car rental companies are located together in a purpose built building just a short distance from the passenger terminals. Upon arrival follow the exit signs and you will eventually come to a roadway. On this roadway you will find shuttle buses, possibly several all at the same time , which are provided by the airport authority. These are provided for all car rental companies including Alamo, Avis, Dollar, Hertz, Thrifty and Enterprise, so they are not 'branded' in anyway and just show the words 'car rental shuttle. Just choose the nearest bus and board it. There are two or three steps up so heavy luggage may prove difficult although the driver might help. The shuttle will take you to (the fourth floor) the car rental garage and inside you will see all the car rental desks.
At your car rental desk an agreement will be drawn up and, as always check what you are being asked to sign for. You should be offered a map of the area and directions on how to drive back to the Miami rental block. These are important as, because of the volume of traffic in the area, if you do not follow these directions you will get caught up in traffic and may be seriously delayed. You will then be directed to the floor that the cars are located. in Dollar Thrifty's case this is the second floor and you are met and directed to the row where your car is located. As always check the car carefully and have any defects noted by the car rental staff before you drive the car. In some cases you are given the choice of any car in that row, but you will be advised if that is the case.
You then follow the exits but at the exit you will be asked for your rental agreement where the final piece of documentation is performed and you are then free to enjoy your rental car. On the Dollar map the exit to the rental lot is at the top of the map and arrows show the various exit routes.
